What are our Objectives?
  • To alert and impress upon government and other bodies, the conditions affecting children in Uganda
  • To work with other NGO’s which have an interest in the welfare and promotion of the rights of children
  • To carry out advocacy and sensitization on the rights of the child, particularly as set out in the UN
  • convention of the rights of the child, the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare o the Child and the Children's Act 2004.
  • To provide a forum for exchange of research & information on the problems affecting children in Uganda today
Where are we working?
With the secretariat based in Kampala, we have 8 district offices all over the country. Additionally, we work in 4 other districts on projects managed from secretariat.

ANPPCAN Uganda Chapter major history accomplishments
Year Activity
1992 – ANPPCAN started activities in Uganda activities where driven by the voluntary effort of the founder members.
1994 - Situation analysis on Child Abuse and Neglect
1995 - Incorporation of provision for children rights in the Uganda constitution.
1995 - Creation and promotion Child abuse awareness week
1995 -1996 Child Right Clubs (peer education)
1997 - Prepared the first NGO report to the UN committee on the rights of the child, culminating into the founding of CRNN
1998 - Pioneers on Media advocacy on children's rights
1998 - Involvement in lobbying in the ratification of the African Charter on the rights and welfare of the child
1999 - Open 1st ANPPCAN district office in Arua
2000 - Integrated case work management Legal-psychosocial-medical
2001 - 2005 Withdrew significant number of children from exploitative child labor in 5 districts
2007 - Successfully hosted The 5th African conference on Child abuse and neglect
2008 - Re-brand. New look & new strategic approach to interventions
